World Athletics set KipKeino Classic date

Athletics governing body, the World Athletics has released the dates for the second edition of Kip Keino Classic, the Continental Tour series.

Following a successful hosting of the event at Nyayo stadium on October 3rd, the 2021 event will be held on September 18, 2021.

In last month’s show, about 30 countries were represented at the inaugural competition, Africa’s only leg on the Continental Tour circuit.

The 2021 Kip Keino Classic will come hot on the heels of World Under-20 Championships that will be held from September 17 to 21 at the Moi International Sports Centre.

The Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi will, once again, be the final leg on the Tour, although the date of a meeting in Nanjing, China, is yet to be confirmed.

The 2021 Continental Tour Gold meeting calendar features 11 meetings in 10 countries across four continents.

The 2021 Continental Tour Gold calendar:

  1. 9 May: Continental Tour Meeting, Tokyo (Japan);
  2. 19 May: Golden Spike, Ostrava (Czech Republic);
  3. 5 Jun: Racers Adidas Grand Prix, Kingston (Jamaica);
  4. 6 Jun: FBK Games, Hengelo (Netherlands);
  5. 8 Jun: Paavo Nurmi Games, Turku (Finland);
  6. 30 Jun: Irena Szewinska Memorial/Bydgoszcz Cup, Bydgoszcz (Poland);
  7. 6 Jul: Gyulai István Memorial, Székesfehérvár (Hungary);
  8. 5 Sep: Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, Chorzów (Silesia) (Poland)
  9. 14 Sep: Zagreb Hanzekovic Memorial, Zagreb (Croatia);
  10. 18 Sep: Kip Keino Classic, Nairobi (Kenya)
