Malkia Strikers, the national women’s volleyball team was ranked the best in Africa in the 2020 by the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB).
After qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan, the Paul Bitok coached side led new-found rivals Cameroon who lies second.
The two nations swapped their ranking in the 2019.
Following their top occupation, the Strikers are ranked number 23 in the world by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) with one step ahead of Cameroon in 24.
This was a drop from last year’s 19 while Cameroon was ranked 17th.
Kenya beat Cameroon 3-2 (25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 15-11) to return to Olympics after a 16-year of long wait.
At the Olympics, Kenya leads pool “A” alongside Korea, Serbia, Dominican Republic, Brazil and Japan.
