Reigning Paralympic Games 5,000m T11 bronze medalist Wilson Bii scooped double wins at today’s national trials for Dubai Athletics Para Grand Prix at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Bii from Kericho won in 5,000m T11 as well as 1,500m T11 category, dominating the championships as part of his preparations for the Paralympic Games.
In the first race, Bii edged out the reigning Paralympics 5,000m T11 champion Samwel Mushai for the title before winning beating Rodgers Kiprop for the title.
He clocked 15:55.5 in 5,000m T11 ahead of Mushai (15:56.3) and Kiprop completing the podium in 16:12.5 before Eric Sang came in 4th timing 16:34.4.
In 1,500m T11, Bii won in 4:23.6 and for the second time beating Sang and Kiprop in 4:29.3 and 4:32.7 after Mushai withdrew.
In men’s T46, Wesley Sang won the title in 4:02.0, beating Stanley Masik and Felix Kipruto in 4:10.0 and 4:21.5 respectively.
In other races, John Topritich was the 1,500m T12 winner in 4:02.6 beating Vitais Kibiwott to second in 4:06.5.
John Kiprotich won the 5,000m T12 in 15:23.1 as Barnerad Koskei settled second 15:25.6.
