AIU bans Kipketer for violating anti-doping rules

Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has handed former world under 20 800m champion Alfred Kipketer ban for two years for a doping offence over whereabouts failures.

AIU found Kipketer guilty and banned him for two years starting November 26, 2019 – which is the date of fourth whereabouts failure – to November 25, 2021

“On the basis that the Athlete admitted the Anti-Doping Rule Violation under Article 2.4ADRon  3 February 2020, the AIU confirms by this decision the following Consequences for a first Anti-Doping Rule Violation:

He has been disqualified from all competitive results obtained by the Athlete since 26 November 2019.

Kipketer becomes the first elite Kenyan athlete to be banned by AIU this year. Unlike last year when 2017 World 1,500m champion Elijah Manang’oi for two years for a similar offence, former world marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang and 2017 London Marathon champion Daniel Wanjiru, Amsterdam marathon winner Kenneth Kipkemoi among others.
