Vihiga, Nairobi take charge in KVF league in Eldoret

It was a good start for Vihiga County and Nairobi Prison in the opening leg of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league that served off at the Eldoret Main Prison.

The two teams dominated the Group three men’s meeting winning two out of three matches played in the two days.

Advantageous Vihiga defeated Western Prison and Nairobi Prison while Nairobi were the winners against hosts Rift Valley and Western Prison.

Vihiga started well with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 22-25) against Western Prison but lost the second match against hosts in a three thrilling setter in 25-22, 25-23, 14-25, 15-25 and 15-11 on Saturday but they recovered well to defeated Nairobi 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 21-25 and 18-25).

Nairobi on their part, started on a high beating hosts 1-3 (24-26, 25-15, 20-25 and 22-25) in the opener and shone over Western Prison 3-0 in 22-25, 20-25 and 19-25 before dropping to Vihiga.

Hosts manage to win one game in the whole event just as Western Prison.

KVF organsing secretary Ismail Chege, the man in charge said the3 system, despite being the most successful, it also entertains fans across the five venues across the country at once, which is good.

“The system has been good and as a federation, it is better to entertain fans across the country to avoid travelling far just to watch the game,” Said Chege who oversaw the Eldoret fixtures at the Eldoret Main Prison.
