Chepkoech, the best Kenyan at the Torun indoor meeting

Four days after setting her second world record in 5km road race in Monaco, world 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech was the best Kenyan at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold Meeting in Torun.

Chepkoech, who now holds two world records finished second in 3,000m behind Ethiopia’s Lemlem Hailu. Hailu won the title in 8:31.24 ahead of Chepkoech’s 8:31.72 and a other Ethiopian Fantu Worku completed the podium in 8:40.04.

In other races of the day, former world indoor champion Collins Kipruto finished in position 8 in 800m timing 1:46.4 while former 800m junior champion Kumari Taki and Bethwel Birgen were in 7th and 8th respectively in men’s 1,500m timing 3:37.28 and 3:37.41 respectively.
