Beatrice Chepkoech and Kibiwott Kandie’s world records were ratified today by the athletics governing body world Athletics.
The world 3,000m steeplechase record holder, Chepkoech broke the 5km world record during the Monaco Run on February 13 when she clocked 14:43.
The win improved her previous women’s record in a mixed gender race of 14:48 set by her compatriot Caroline Kipkirui on September 8, 2018.
The world half marathon silver medalist Kandie on the other hand, his world half marathon record was ratified when he ran the race in 57:32 during Valencia half marathon in December.
The Baringo based runner shade off 29 seconds from the previous record held by Geoffrey Kamworor as the duo are set to face off at the Istanbul Half marathon on Sunday.
