Former Kenya Premier league champions Tusker fC today unveiled former club player George Maina as the new assistant coach, replacing Charles Okere.
Okere, who was named the Harambee Starlets, the national women soccer team, will see Maina take over the charges and will serve in the capacity till the end of the season with a review of his contract subject to performance.
Maina will serve under head coach Robert Matano for the league leaders as they await their 6th league title in the 18-team format.
Maina played for Tusker from 1994 before retiring in 2001 and took over as coach of the club’s youth team.
He served as assistant coach to James Nandwa in 2010, and in the same capacity under tacticians Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo and Matano between 2011 and 2014.
