South Africa dominance against Shujaa continued at Solidarity Camp final

South Africa rugby sevens side Blitzboks continued with their dominance against Kenya’s Shujaa at the concluded Ruby South Africa Solidarity Camp rugby tournament in a final match played today at the Markotter stadium in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The hosts, have now handed Shujaa their 4th loss in a row ahead of Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan where the Innocent Simiyu coached lost 31-5 in the finals of the two-day event.

Last week, Shujaa lost in both pool matches and at the final, same as this weekend.

In today’s final, the Blitzboks Sako Makata converted try put the hosts ahead before Selvyn Davids stretched the lead to 12-0 with a cross kick before setting Angelo Davids for another converted try for the third try before Angelo stretched the lead to 24-0 before Alvin Otieno scored uncoverted try for Shujaa as a consolation as Muller du Preez continued with the fight with his try for a 31-5 final score.

At the semis, Billy Odhiambo bagged a brace as Shujaa defeated neighbours Uganda 31-7.

Herman Humwa, Daniel Taabu and Bush Mwale’s tries saw Kenya register their third win of the tournament.

Herman Humwa, Daniel Taabu and Bush Mwale scored for Shujaa. Odhiambo’s unconverted try handed Kenya a 5-0 lead before adding the second try converted try by Tony Omodni for a 12-0 lead.

Humwa touched down for the third with Omondi adding the stras for a 19-0 lead as Uganda grabbed a try by Nobert Okeny that was well converted by Tim Kisiga 19-7 into water break.

On return Taabu cut in for another try before Mwale scoring the second for the final 31-9 score.
