Moraa byes Tokyo Games

Kenya’s Mary Moraa bowed out of the Olympic Games 800m title chase after losing in today’s semifinals in Tokyo, Japan.

The world under 18 400m silver medalist finished third in the first heat by timing 2:00.47 won by Jamaican Natoya Goule in 1:59.57 and America’s Ajee Wilson (2:00.79) in the second position.

Kenya’s long wait to seal the two lap race still continues after Pamela Jelimo won the title 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Moraa was the only hope after former world champion and team captain Eunice Sum and Emily Cherotich Tuei bowed out in first rounds.
