Tadese, Achieng shines as Vihiga fall to CBE in women’s CAF qualifiers

Medina Tadese bagged a hat trick as Kenya champions Vihiga Queens fell to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the opening match of CAF Women champions’ league Cecafa qualifiers at Nyayo Stadium today.

The Kenyan representative lost 4-2 when Tadese scored a hat-trick with Vihiga’s Maureen Achieng scoring a brace in the pool B match.

CBE opened the score through Tedesse in the 8th minute for a 0-1 lead and Queens leveled through Achieng at the 11th minute. Tadese scored her brace for 1-2 lead in the 32nd minute but Achieng, bagging her brace, leveled the score to 2-2 into break.

The Ethiopian completed her hat-trick in the 71st minute and Lauza Abera scored the 4th in the 81st minute to bag maximum points.
