Kipyegon, Cheruiyot and Jeruto shine at Zurich Diamond League

Double Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon Chepngetich, Olympic 1,500m silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot and former world junior 2,000m steeplechase champion Norah Jeruto ended the Diamond League a high note by winning the Zurich meetings today evening.

Kipyegon won the title in 3:58.33 beating her new rival Sifan Hassan to second after setting the Olympic record over the distant taught the triple Olympic medallist champion a lesson as she closed the season on high note when she slug it out in a brilliant way and kept her nose in front to win her first Diamond Trophy since 2017.

Cheruiyot also defeated his new found rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen to second to lift the title in 3:31.37

Fresh from winning 3,000m steeplechase title at the Tokyo Olympic Games, Ugandan Peruth Chemtai failed to sparkle when Jeruto won the title.

Former Africa 3,000m steeplechase champion won her first ever Diamond League title when she cut the tape in 9:07.33 and was followed by Kiyeng in 9:08.55 as Chemutai finished in a disappointing seventh place in 9:20.16.
