Eldoret to host World cross country Tour

Athletics Kenya has confirmed that the World Cross country Tour will be held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.

The federation picked Eldoret as one of its venues to host the 7th leg of the inaugural 2022 World Cross Country Tour on February 12th.

The Eldoret, which hosted the 2019 World cross country national trials comes just days to the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia.

Federation’s president said that Eldoret is the best place for the event during the World Athletics Council meeting during the Tokyo Olympics since Mombasa had hosted the 2007 World Cross Country Championships with Nairobi staging both the 2017 World Under-18 and 2021 World Under-20 Athletics Championships.

“Eldoret Tour and the world event will be separated by a week and the national team will already be in camp preparing to leave for Australia,” said Tuwei, adding that a team will be put in place to plan for the event.
