The government has promised to pump in millions at the Kip Keino Classic, the World Athletics Continental Tour golden Tour at the Kasarani stadium.
Principal Secretary in the ministry of Sports Joe Okudo promised that the government will pump in kshs 250 into the second edition of the race.
“The only challenge is that with all these exciting activities we have spread ourselves thin as they have been held back-to-back since March,” explained Okudo
At the same time, Absa Bank pumped in Sh20 million in the meeting where 265 athletes have confirmed competing.
Absa Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Awori disclosed that they have come on board to partner with the Ministry of Sports and Athletics Kenya to host the Kip Keino Classic because of the event’s huge potential for growth.
“These competitions continue to raise the profile of our sports sector on international platforms and promote sports tourism,” said Awori.
Tuwei promised a world class event as he took his time to welcome the visitors for the championship.
