Fidel Wanjala will be hosting this year’s Kericho Captain’s Prize on Saturday at the nine-hole Kericho golf Club.
Wanjala, who has served the club for a year as the captain, will be having his last tournament that has attracted over 100 golfers for the tournament in the South Rift.
Wanjala said that he has served the 2019/2020 season but there was delay in holding the meeting to exit office in the coronavirus period.
“I have had many golfers confirming their participation on the nine hole course and the 100 I have already signed, many will still be coming for the tournament,’ said Wanjala.
He said that the course, being a nine-hole, they have to avoid overcrowding with more entries expected.
“As of today, I have golfers from Nyanza, Nandi Bears, Eldoret, Kakamega and Kisii but more are expected from Nairobi based clubs. Some may come as individuals not as clubs,” explained Wanjala.
He added that the course has well been prepared in readiness for the tournament which has attracted big sponsors in one of the most interactive game of the day.
“As a club and captain, we are ready for the big field in the whole day of networking sessions. We shall have many players despite the difficulties posed by Covid-19 pandemic, which we shall try to follow ministry of health protocols on that day,” he added.
