Kenya Shujaa lost their last match to South Africa to book for a qyaiterfinal match against USA in the ongoing HSBC World rugby sevens in Vancouver.
The Sunday morning match, the Innocent Simiyu lost the last pool A encounter 33-14 to South Africa after beating Spain 17-05 in the opening match and 45-07 in the second match against Mexico to finish second in the pool.
Blitzboks had beaten Mexico 53-0 and Spain 34-7. Shujaa conceded the first try through Muller du Plessis converted try for a 7-0 lead and Ryan Oosthuizen landed the second converted try for 14-0 with Ronald Brown landing the 3rd converted try to extend to a 21-0 lead.
Brown landed a brace for a 28-0 at break and on resumption Kenya’s Alvin Otieno pulled one back with and JC Pretorius responded with unconverted try for 33-07 lead and Shujaa scored the final try through debutant Alvin Marube for a final 33-14.
Following their second finish with 7 points in the pool, Shujaa will be taking on pool C leaders USA today at 7:42 in quarterfinal, a team coached former Shujaa Mike Friday.
