Alvin ‘Buffalo’ Otieno bagged his brace as Shujaa beat Canada to win bronze at the concluded Edmonton sevens, the second leg of HSBC World rugby Series in Canada.
The commonwealth Stadium event saw the Innocent Simiyu charged side beat hosts 33-14 for the medal, releasing one position from Vancouver where they finished second.
Shujaa captain Nelson Oyoo’s try that was converted by Levy Amunga handed Kenya 07-0 lead with Otieno doubling the score with Amunga adding extras for 14-0 lead but Canadian Alex Russell converted try halved the score into break.
After resumption, Harold Anduvate try leveled the score Willy Ambaka added the third converted try and Otieno bagged his brace and Billy Odhiambo added his 5th for the final score to win bronze.
South Africa won the title, the second of the series after Vancouver last weekend when they beat Great Britain 24-12 in the final.
The win for Blitzboks has amassed 40 points as Kenya tie with Canada on 34 points.
Cancellation of Singapore that were set for October 29-30, the series will now head to Dubai on December 3-4 followed by Cape Town Sevens on December 10-12.
