Junior golfer Tuimur beat pros Mediratta, Mudanyi for Safari Tour title in Sigona

Amateur player Tuimur Malik edged out professional golfers Mohit Mediartta and Edwin Mudanyi to win the opening round of Safari Tour Series at the par 72 Sigona golf club.

With the three players tied on four under par 284, the trio were subjected to sudden death play-offs on the 18th hole.

The Junior player Tuimur and Mediratta eliminated Mudanyi in the first round before Tuimur went ahead to win the title after beating Mediratta in the final 18 for the title.

In the opening hole, Tuimur and Mediaratta fired a par each while Mudanyi managed a bogey to bow out and the duo entered into the next round with the champion winning after playing level with Mediaratta dropping one shot to finish second.

The Muthaiga junior player fired seven under par 65 in the final round for the title after making 73, 73, 73 in the past three rounds. ‘

Mediratta, who enjoyed two days on top of the log fired four over to drop from the top position with 70, 67, 71 and 76 while Mudanyi had fired level in the last round after 76, 72 and 64.
