Kipyegon to go for world record

Two time Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon is confident of setting a new world record in her favourite race.

Kipyegon the reigning world 1,500m silver medalist while on Citizen Television of Wednesday night promised to break the world record when the new track and field season kicks off next year.

The Diamond League 1,500m series winner edged her new found rival Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands to win her second Olympic games title in Tokyo, Japan, told Kenyans that she has what it takes to break the world record.

She will be chasing the record currently held by Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba in 3:53.09.
