Mali took home away from home advantage to thrash Kenya’s harambee Stars in the ongoing Fifa World Cup qualifiers in Morocco.
Mali won their second match with a 5-0 thrashing against Kenya with Engin Firat in his first job as the coach for Stars to command pool E with seven points from three matches played while Kenya moved to third behind Uganda and ahead of Rwanda.
Ibrahima Kone bagged a hat-trick with in the game when Adama Traore started the goal rush on the 8th minutes, then Kone doubled on 21st minute for his first goal. He added the second in the in the 34th minute for 3-0 before completing his hat-trick in the 45th minute from the spot for a 4-0 lead into break.
Moussa Doumbia completed the thumb up with his goal in the 86th minute for a 5-0 win for Mohammed Moassouba side.
Mali now enjoys a 7 lead with Uganda, who beat Rwanda by a solitary goal moved to second with 5 as Kenya was relegated to third on two points with Rwanda still rooted at the bottom of pool E with a point it collected from Kenya.
Kenya will be hosting Mali on Sunday in a return leg fixture at the Nyayo National stadium, Nairobi.
