Ruth Chepng’etich wins Chicago marathon

World Marathon champion Ruth Chepngetich won the Chicago marathon title held today in the USA.

After losing out on medals bracket at the Tokyo Olympic Marathon in August, won her first world marathon majors title 2:22.31 ahead of Emma Bates who returned second in 2:24:20 while Sara Hall finished third in 2:27:19. 

In the men’s race, Ethiopia’s Seifu Tura won in 2:06:12 as American Galen Rupp settled second in 2:06:35 and Kenya’s Eric Kiptanui Mking his debut in Chicago Marathon, sealed the podium in 2:06:51.

 

USA’s Bates (2:24:20) and Sarah Hall (2:27:19) were in second and third positions respectively with Kenya’s Vivian Kiplagat finishing fifth.
