Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has opened a pandorax’s box on how he feels about the national soccer team Harambee Stars.
While appering on NTV’s Game Plan on Monday night, Mwendwa said that even Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta or Juventus Jose Murinho can help the team from losing matches.
“Even if you bring Mourinho, even if you bring Arteta here, the work that needs to be done is that we need to bring the talent on the table, for you to win we need quality players,” said the second serving football boss.
This comes at a time when Stars have been bundled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will be staged in Qatar after losing 6-0 on aggregate against Mali. The Engin Firat coached side lost 5-0 in Morocco and 1-0 back home at the Nyayo stadium on Sunday.
Mwendwa said it would be an uphill task bringing the Kenyan lads at par with the crème de la crème of the world.
“So let’s look at Mali for example, are we better than Mali? The Answer is that we are not because we have never brought out our players to that level. I want to tell Kenyans that we want to win and I am working every day to make Kenya win,” he said.
