Daniel Muindi Joyce Jemutai will be leading other Kenyan athletes at the weekend’s Cape Town marathon set for Sunday 17th in South Africa.
The Kenyan contingent will be chasing the Kshs 1.4 million as prize money as the race returns following the 2020 cancelation caused by COVID-19.
Kenya’s Edwin Koech and Celestine Chepchirchir won the 2019 edition with Albert Korir winning the 2017 edition and losing to homeboy Stephen Mokoka in 2018.
Muindi will be up against William Yegon, Alex Saekwo, Cosmas Kyeva, Robert Chemosin, Joseph Kachapi, Kenneth Korir, Reuben Kemboi, Eliud Kiptanui, Samwel Maswai, Jonathan Chesoo, Emmanuel Ngatuny among others.
In the women’s category, Jemutai will battle out with Stella Jepkosgei, Esther Macharia, Elizabeth Chelagat, Jemutai, Lydia Simiyu, and Lucy Karimi.
In the race, the top three finishers will earn ksh1.4 million, Sh740,000 and Sh370,000 respectively.
