Chemos: Tirop was a jovial, hardworking athlete

Athletics Kenya athletes representative Milcah Chemos has admitted that the late Agnes Jebet Tirop was a jovial and hardworking athlete in her career.

Speaking in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county follwoing the sudden death of the former world cross country champion, Chemos said that it was sad to lose such a youthful talent.

It was a sad Wednesday for athletics family following the sudden death of former world cross country champion Agnes Jebet Tirop.

The reigning 5,000m bronze medalist was found dead in her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Athletes, who visisted the home of the fallen hero led by Athletes’ represebtaive Milcah Chemos, Janeth Jepkosgei, Asbel Kiprop, Kirwa Yego, Eunice Sum among others failed to control their tears.

Last month, Tirop set a new 10km new world record at the Adizero Road to Records in Herzogenaurach, Germany with the women-only record of 30:01 to win the race.
