Athletics family is mourning another athlete who was killed by her alleged husband in Kirinyaga.
Edith Muthoni becomes the second athlete to be killed after former world cross country champion Agnes Jebet Tirop was murdered at her home in Iten.
According to the reports given by the directorate of criminal investigations, it has been revealed that the suspect who has been identified as Kennedy Nyamu allegedly killed 27 year old Muthoni and fled.
This was followed by a dramatic scene after the witnesses rushed the deceased to the nearest hospital where she was allegedly pronounced dead by doctors who revealed that she allegedly succumbed to the injuries inflicted in her neck.
Police said they have arrested the suspect who was found hiding in one of his friend’s place after which he was taken to the police station for more investigation and questioning.
At the same time, the murder weapon which was found at the crime scene was taken by police officers who revealed that they were going to use it in court while prosecuting the suspect who will be charged for murder.
This is happening at the same time when the government has revealed that the cases of murder and suicide related deaths has increased in the past few months since the first report of Covid-19 in the country.
