Couple Stella Barsosio and her husband Edwin Melly partnered well to win the Rotterdam marathon held on Sunday in the Netherlands.
Melly was the pacemaker for his wife Barsosio to win the race with her personal best of 2:22.08 from the previous 2:23.
The couple landed at the Eldoret International Airport on Tuesday morning, carrying a large trophy as they headed to the home in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
Barsosio won the title, improving from her second finish in second position in 2019.
“I won the race because of good preparations in training,” said Barsosio.
She added that when she was told that she had a race, she started training for it.
“I was aiming for good results that came by,” concluded the former Singapore marathon silver medalist.
Melly said that as a pacer, the race was good and they had a target of 2:20 but luckily enough she got her personal best.
“We wanted to run 2:20 but that was not achieved; however, she managed to get her personal best, lowering the former 2:23 to 2:22. For us it was a great improvement,” said Melly.
He added that as a pacemaker, he was happy to have paced and won, showing that they were doing a great job both as an athlete and the pacesetter.
