CAF bans Nyayo after Kasarani

Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has banned Kasarani and Nyayo stadium for hosting any continental matches.

According to the communique from the continental football body, the two national facilities are not suitable according to the inspections done.

“Kindly note that in accordance with the CAF Stadium inspection and approval procedure, a final stadium approval by CAF will only be granted if the points raised are correctly resolved in the coming period and a new CAF inspection confirms this,” CAF in a letter to Football Kenya Federation dated October 17.

“Upon conclusion of the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 matchday 5 and 6, the stadium will only be approved for any subsequent CAF international senior national teams matches and other CAF men’s inter-clubs competitions subject to the implementation of all the CAF remarks,” said CAF.

The ban comes at a time when Tusker and Gor Mahia are set to compete at the CAF Confederation Cup preliminaries.

Tusker will be playing Tunisian’s CS Sfaxien and Gor Mahia will take on Congo’s AS Otoho d’Oyo between November 28 and December 4.
