Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league champions General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenya Prisons started their title defence on a high note, winning their matches as the league served off today at the Kapsabet Showground Nandi County.
Men champions GSU won all their opening matches, beating Kenya Army in straight sets of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-17 while women champions Kenya Prisons beat fellow wardress Nairobi 3-1 in 25-15, 25-16, 26-28 and 25-15.
With too much rain at the courts, the matches were forced to stop as they set focus on Saturday’s Governor’s Cup title chase.
In other men matches, former champions Prison Kenya were 3-1 winners over Prison Mombasa 3-1 in 25-15, 25-16, 26-28 and 25-15, with Kenya Forest service (KFS) beating Kenya Prison Central 3-1 (25-20, 25-16 and 25-21).
