Kenya’s Shujaa, the national rugby sevens team lost their opening matches to Argentina and the USA at the opening round of world rugby sevens in Dubai today morning.
The Innocent Simiyu coached side lost 14-07 to the USA in pool B opener
Against Argentina, Kenya lost 22-07 despite Shujaa enjoying ball possession but Luciano Gonzalez scored a doubled 12-0 lead but Kenya pulled one back through Alvin Buffa Otieno and Levy Amunga scoring the scond to for a level 12-12 into break.
On resumption, Jeff Oluoch extended the lead to 12-17 but Argentine German Schulz leveld to 17-all score but with Otieno on sin bin, Argentines broke the silence with penalty for the win.
With the USA, Stephen Tomasin converted his own try for a 7-0 lead and Daniel Taabu touched down for Shujaa for 7-7 but Mike Friday’s men responded almost immediately with Logan Tago touched down with Tomasin converting to see the USA retake the lead, 14-7 win.
