Newbies Shamas top KRU Championships into new year

Heading into a two week break, newly promoted side Shamas Foundation have taken the lead at the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championships, the second tier rugby league in the country.

Shamas, who lost to Kabarak University on sweet revenge for the university side, still leads on the table on 11 points. Shamas defeated Kabarak during the promotion play-off and Kabarak managed to win the match.

The University of Nairobi side Mean Machine lies second with a point less with Catholic Monks in third with similar points against Machine who enjoys goal difference.
