Kenya hockey teams have qualified to play into the semifinals of the ongoing Hockey Africa Cup of Nations in Accra, Ghana.
Both men and women made their cut into the semis following their victory in pool matches despite women team failing to honour their opening match against Namibia when they delayed in Nairobi.
Today, the women’s team came from a goal down to beat Nigeria 2-1 to finish second in pool B in a must win match at the Ukoh Hockey stadium.
Aurelia Opondo cancelled out Nigeria’s Benedicta Johnson before Naomi Kemunto sealed the victory for Jacqueline Mwangi coached side.
It was the similar script in men when Chui, finished second in pool A when they lost to champions South Africa 2-1 and will play Egypt in semis.
The winners will represent Africa at the International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Cup in the Netherlands.
