Playing handicap 3, Serem has been a regular figure in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series, formerly Golfer of the Year (GOTY) where he has played in many meetings across the country in search of points for the 2022 Magical Kenya Open golf championships that tees off on 3rd to 6th March at the par 71 Muthaiga golf club.

In-form player said that he will be trying his best since the tournament is being played at home and a win will be great for the home player considering his handicap.

“I am in top form that is why I play at the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) events and I want to replicate the same back home on Saturday,” said Serem.

He said his preparations have been great on the course in readiness for the event set to attract top golfers from neighbouring clubs like Kitale, Kericho, Kakamega, Kisii, Kericho, Nakuru and Nyanza.

“I have had good results in the KAGC events and that is one way of making sure that I register better results. I played back home in Eldoret, Njoro, Kakamega, Kitale and Nandi Bears in the KGU series events,” added Serem.

Kenya Seed Company Corporate Communication Officer Jane Gitau said that the company’s Oloibe will be top corporate golfers in the race to the podium that will include Elgeyo Marakwet County governor Alex Tolgos among others.

In her statement said that the Eldoret tournament is the first event on their calendar of events as they slowly return into action after the prolonged coronavirus pandemic.

“Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos will be among the over 100 golfers expected at the tournament. The tournament is the first event to be held this year as the company is on revamp of its activities which had slowed due to the COVID-19 restrictions,” said Gitau.
