Omanyala to go for 9.60 as he faces Jacobs and Kerley at Kipkeino Classic

Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala has promised to run 9.76 at the Kip Keino Classic, the world Athletics Continental Gold tour tomorrow at the Kasarani stadium.

Speaking in today’s conference, Omanyala said he can can attempt the 9.76 record when he will be lining up against Olympic 100m champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs and Olympic Games silver medalist Fred Kerley. 

“As a promised Kenyans tomorrow’s race will be all about on how I will execute. And how does 9.60 sound? questioned Omanyala with his smiling face.

The former rugby player-turned track runner ran the national and African record during last year’s edition by clocking 9.77, break Akani Simbine’s previous African record of 9.84. 

Kerley (19.76 in 200m) and Jacobs, on the other hand, adopted a wait-and-see response when quizzed about their expectations for the race.
