Wanyonyi for gold as Yego settles for silver at Kip Keino Classic

Former world javelin champion and reigning world under 20 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi topped the world at the Kip keino Classic, the World Athletics Continental gold tour at the Kasarani stadium.

Yego, the former Olympic Games javelin silver medalist fell to Egyptian Ihab Abdelrahman to finish second.

The Africa record holder threw 79.59m to fail to make the world championships qualifying mark while Ihab threw 83.79m and Johann Grobler (79.11) of South Africa came third as position 4 went to Strobinders Rolands of Latvia who posted 76.30m.

On track, Wanyonyi won the 800m title when he clocked 1:45.01.
