Iten court sentence Germany athlete over disturbing messages

A court in Iten has sentenced the German athlete six months in jail or a fine of Ksh 70,000 after he was found guilty of four counts of cyber Harassment to a lady in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Weiss Marvin Valentin, who pleaded guilty to all the 4 charges, is said to have sent disturbing messages to a Kenyan female athlete by the name, Regina Cherotich, after she turned down his sexual advances.

Part of the message that the accused sent to the defendant of 20th of April this year reads, “You are having my blood in your hands. Tomorrow I will go to heaven and you will go to hell…”

According Elkana Ruto, an athletics coach, several other female athletes had reported cases of Harassment the culprit.

The court further gave the convict 72 hours to Leave the country after paying the fine or serving the jail sentence failure to which he will be deported.
