Sheba triumph at Extreme Sports Tennis tournament

Upcoming Sheba Ogumba put up a gallant show to win the Extreme Tennis Girls Under 10 Green category played at the Nairobi Club.

 Finishing second was Zuri Ochieng with Felicia Ouko settling for the third spot in the winners’ podium.

 In the Boy’s U-10 Orange category, Khalil Nathan claimed the maiden win followed by Justin Kiama and Allan Njau. They were presented their medals by Safaricom Ltd representative Peris Nduta Muhoro amid thunderous cheers.

 Over 130 players drawn from various schools attended the tennis tournament that was organised by Extreme Sports, brainchild of top coach Collins Abala.

 The one-day event whose theme was greening community was sponsored by leading mobile network provider Safaricom Ltd, Rwanda Air, Coca-Cola Beverage Africa, NMS Advocates and sanctioned by Tennis Kenya.

  The tournament was played in five different categories comprising Under – 4,6,8 and10 Under Green and Orange respectively.

 Winners were presented with Trophies and medals by chief guests that included Tennis Kenya Technical Director Rosemary Owino, Safaricom representative Peris Nduta Muhoro, and Frank Owino who represented Cocacola beverage Africa among others.

Addressing the media, the widely travelled and tennis Technical Director Rosemary Owino lauded sponsors led by Safaricom Ltd, participants, and parents for their respective contribution.

 “We are delighted by our sponsors led by Safaricom Ltd and other partners, we don’t take it for granted, their support within a short notice was quite encouraging. “observed Owino.

 She added” The event theme was greening community which is aimed at preserving our environment and tree planting. Our sponsors were passionate about our community and environment. This is one way of supporting Tennis Kenya whose target is to develop the game, nurture the young kids and sharpen their skills”
