Kipruto face Bakkali as Wanyonyi tackle Olympic greats Kirir and Rotich

Former Olympic Games 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslas Kipruto will be opening the Diamond League season at the Rabat meet this Saturday in morocco.

The two-time 3000m steeplechase world champion will be up against Olympic 3,000m steeplechase champion Soufiane Bakkali who will be hoping to shine at home.

Others in the water and barriers include Mekhissi Mahediene of France, silver medalist Lamecha Girma and bronze medallist Benjamin Kigen, Abraham Kibiwott, Hilary Bor of the USA and Ethiopia’s Takele Nigate.

World under 20 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who just won the Golden Spike in Ostrava continental Tour will be facing off with Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir, Olympic silver medalist Ferguson Rotich double world indoor 800m champion Collins Kipruto, Michael Saruni forrmer Olympic 800m silver medallist Nigel Amos, Gabriel Tubal and Smaili Mostafa.

As men battle out in the two lap race, world under 18 400m silver medalist Mary Moraa, Naomi Korir and Jarinter Mwasya will be chasing their title alongside Prudence Sekgodiso, Tigist Girma and Renelle Lamote.

Commonwealth Games 5,000m champion Mercy Cherono faces an acid test in the 3000m  as she takes on inform Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi. Others to look out for include Abebe Tsiyon of Ethiopia and  Australia’s Davis Rose 

Abel Kipsang will be chasing third Diamond League series when he will be tackling Paulson Williams, Mohammed Katir,  Jake Wightman (Great Britain).
