Newly crowned Kakamega Homeboyz player of the Month David Odiambo Okoth is optimistic that they will win the Kenya premier league title.
Okoth, who was the Month of April winner said that as a team, they have two chances to redeem their image and chances of lifting their maiden title at the end of the 2021/2020 season with one match to the end.
In a two horse race to the title between champions Tusker and Homeboyz, take centre stage over the weekend.
The midfielder, received the award last Sunday evening following their 2-0 loss to 13-time KPL champions AFC Leopards with goals scored by
“First I must thank God then my teammates and technical bench for this award which means a lot to me as a player and the title we are fighting ahead,” said Okoth.
He said that now that they are fighting to be champions of the league, for the first time, he was grateful.
“So far we cannot rule out that we cannot win it, we still have a chance to win it. The win of this award means a lot to me as a player. This award has motivated a player and a team spirit to battle for the title,” said the confident Okoth.
He added that the battle for the title continues to be a challenge for them but they have not lost hope. “We shall continue fighting because the league is not yet over. We still have two matches which are a must win for us. And a win will be good for us. As a team, we still believe that we shall win the title. We have confidence to fight till the last minute,” he said.
With one match to go, the Kakamega based club will be facing off with Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday at Bukhungu stadium.
