Double Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepng’etich Kipyegon will be seeking a double at the national Athletics Kenya trials ahead of Commonwealth Games and World championships this weekend at the Kasarani stadium.
Kipyegon, the world 1,500m silver medalist will be competing in the 1,500m as well as the 800m to chase double at the global championships in Eugene, Oregon in the USA and Birmigham in the Grreat Britain respectively.
But according to the fixtures released by the federation, there will be no field events because no athlete has met the qualifying standards.
Moreover, there will be selected sprints events on the cards during the two-day trials; men and women’s 100m, 200m and 400m, and men’s 400m hurdles
The invites-only event will see straight finals with the competition program starting on Friday at 1.10pm with the men’s 5,000m final.
World Athletics Championships will take place from July 15 to 24 followed by the Commonwealth Games from July 28 to August 8.
