U17 team undergo MRI ahead of championships

Kenya Under 17 football players went through Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and pre-Competition Cardiac Assessment Tests to be of their eligibility the Confederation of Africa Football U17 qualifier.

The youngsters will take part in the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations CECAFA Region Qualifying tournament set to be played between 11 and 26 August 2018, in Tanzania.

The scans were aimed at ensuring the players are physically fit and also fit in the set age brackets which is a requirement but the governing body CAF.

Kenya will battle it out in Pool B alongside Uganda, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Djibouti. Group A has hosts Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, and Sudan.

The tournament is set to determine which team takes part in the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations in May 2019 alongside Tanzania, who gain automatic qualification by virtue of being the hosts. The winner of the tournament will thus get the spot, while the runners-upĀ could also make it to the tourney in case Tanzania emerge winners.
