Top teams make Kenya Cup play-off

Already qualified Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Kabras Sugar registered their respective wins in today’s Kenya Cup matches as they are joined by other teams into the play-off in two weeks time.

The Bankers and Sugar Millers won against Impala Saracens 33-22 and Homeboyz 10-03 respectively.

Kabras Sugar concluded with top of the table with 74 points as defending champions KCB ends the season second with 72 points to claim the two automatic places in the semi-final.

In other results former champions Nakuru defeated already relegated Mean Machine 26-12 at the University of Nairobi to storm the Kenya Cup semi-final play-offs to join Mwamba and Impala Saracens.

Debutants Menengai Oilers wrapped up the business with a 34-24 win against Mwamba at the Nakuru ASK showground.

Nondescripts missed the play-off opportunity with a 15-12 loss to Kenya Harlequin to miss out on the play-offs as Quins, who finished third with 53 points will now meet Impala Saracens, who settled sixth with 45 points in the first semi-final play-off. Fourth-placed Nakuru with 46 points will take on Mwamba, who collected points collected 45 points.

Blak Blad from Kenyatta University survived relegation when they humbled Strathmore Leos 24-0, a defeat that saw the Leos relegated for the first time to the KRU Championship.

Strathmore joins Mean Machine, who were also relegated to the KRU Championships.
