Word Warriors, the national scrabble team won their opening pool C match against Singapore in the first Virtual World Cup.
With the coronavirus pandemic hitting the sporting world, it was the best opportunity for Kenyan scrabble players to test their skills on the board where the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic the game of Scrabble has not been left behind in the reinventing the wheel.
The World Cup that attracted 16 nations, saw Kenya pooled with Singapore, Ghana and Canada.
With games played in round robin format Kenya was paired with Singapore in their first leg where the warriors narrowly defeated Singapore 13-12 with a spread of -326 in the 5 set of 2-3 , 4-1 , 2-3, 3-2 and 2-3.
Following the win Kenya is now ranked 2nd behind Canada who beat Ghana 13-12 +171. The win was a motivation ahead of Canada in the 2nd encounter on Sunday as the players are the match to be tough and thrilling.
Kenya against Canada will be played on Sunday 19th at 8pm EAT.
