Clinton Aluvi to captain Under 20/18 at CAA championships in Nigeria

Team captains Clinton Aluvi is optimistic that they will perform well at the third edition of Africa Under-18 and Under-20 Combined Athletics Championships set for Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State in Nigeria.

The 100m runner will lead 47 athletes at the Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) African U18/U20 Combined Athletics Championships that starts from July 16th – 20th.

Team captains Clinton Aluvi, who will represent Kenya in the 100m and 200m events, and 2023 Africa Under-18 1,500m silver medallist Joyline Jepkemoi said the team is highly motivated and ready to conquer the continent.

Head Coach Robert Ngisirei noted that the team has fine-tuned its techniques and expressed confidence that they will return as champions.

The squad also received words of encouragement from two-time African and Commonwealth 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala and former national team captain at the 2016 World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The duo urged the athletes to remain focused on both education and athletics
