CHAN: Shomari Kapombe scores as Tanzania beat Mauritania

Tanzania maintained their superlative performance by beating Mauritania in the ongoing African nations Championships (CHAN) in their second pool B match played at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Tanzania today.

Shomari Kapombe scored an all important goal in the 1-0 victory for the hosts as Tanzania smell quarterfinals with six points.

Kapombe scored in the 89th minute after connecting Iddy Nado pass to beat Abderrahmane Sarr and the victory is Tanzania’s second and on course for the knockout stages. 

Tanzanian coach Hemed Suleiman started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Burkina Faso while Aritz Lopez Garai drew the opener with Madagascar.

The result leaves Tanzania top of Group B with six points from two games, having not conceded a single goal.

Burkina Faso follow with three points, while Madagascar and Mauritania are on one point each. Central African Republic are bottom with no points but have a game in hand.
