Burkina Faso ‘Stallions’ bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Tanzania to stun Central Africa Republic (CAR) in the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN) in a pool B second match played at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.
Coached by Issa Balbon, Faso stunned CAR 3-2 to increase teir chances of making it to the quarterfinals.
Papus Naser Ouattara scored first for the winners in the 11th minute before Sydney Chiffort Tchibinda leveled four minutes later for 1-1 into break.
Abdoul Abass Guiro converted from the spot to hand Stallions a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute before Patrick malo scored the third goal for Faso, also from the penalty for 3-1 at 78th minute then Abdoul Karim Baguian made it 4-1 in the 84th minute but CAR’s Ange Zoumara halved the score when he scored from the spot kick for 4-2 final whistle.
CAR coach Sébastien Ngato will take positives from their debut CHAN appearance.
Burkina Faso will face Mauritania, who lost to Tanzania by a solitary goal as CAR take on Madagascar.
