Double Abu Dhabi Marathon champion Catherine Amanang’ole Reline and Madrid Half Marathon winner Gideon Kiprop Rotich emerged victorious at the sixth edition of the Moi Girls Kapsowar Conservation and Charity Half Marathon held on Saturday in Kapsowar, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Reline showcased her road running prowess to secure a historic third consecutive title, crossing the finish line in 73:02. She finished ahead of Orba Chemurgor, who clocked 75:09, while Monica Jeptarus completed the women’s podium in 75:22.
The victory marked a remarkable hat-trick for Reline, who first won the race in 2024 before successfully defending her crown in both 2025 and 2026.
“This has become like my home and winning back-to-back three times is a big achievement. The course has been hard, but I am now used to it. Right now, I am still in the off-season after running in London,” said Reline.
“Running has been good and this is my first race, acting as part of my training for other events ahead.”
Despite the victory, Reline’s winning time was slower than her previous triumphs. She won the 2024 edition in 71:40 and improved to 72:46 in 2025 before posting 73:02 this year.
In the men’s race, Rotich celebrated a successful return to local competition following his international campaign. The Madrid Half Marathon champion clocked 63:22 to claim the title in a tightly contested finish.
He edged Leonard Kipsiyak, who finished second in 63:27, while Mathew Kipkorir Kimeli completed the podium in 63:31.
Rotich credited his preparation on similar terrain for helping him navigate the challenging course, which featured steep hills and sharp corners.
“It was a difficult race, but I was well prepared to tackle the terrain. This is my first time competing here and victory has given me another chance to return and fight for another title,” said Rotich.
The race attracted elite runners from across the region and continued its mission of promoting environmental conservation and supporting charitable initiatives while providing a competitive platform for athletes.
