Reigning world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Edmund Serem led a Kenyan sweep in the 3,000m steeplechase at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Serem won the first gold for Kenya after leading Simon Koech to silver and Leonard Bett to bronze in an all Kenyan podium sweep in the most brilliant of fashions when her athletes swept the men’s steeplechase.
Serem stopped the timer in 8:18.23 with Koech settling for silver at 8:18.59 and Bett completing the podium sweep at 8:21.63.
The champion revealed that his success comes through the support of his father Joseph Serem.
Earlier on, Diana Wanza settled for silver in the women’s 10,000m.
