Simbas, the Kenya Rugby 15 aside roared in Morocco by defeating their hosts 28-24 Africa Gold Cup played today in Casablanca.
The Ian Snook led team started on a high note with a brace from Tony Onyango, registering the first win on the Moroccan soi.
Biko Adema touched the ground first before Darwin Mukidza converted the try for a 7-0 lead against the hosts.
But hosts recovered fast and made double unconverted tries to overtake Kenya to 10-07 into break.
The hosts went further ahead after the break with a converted try for a 17-07 lead but Onyango reduced the deficit after cutting through the Moroccan defence scoring under the posts with Mukidza making no mistake with his conversion for 17-14.
Mukidza again converted Moses Amusala’s try to overtake hosts to 21-17 then Onyango added his second try and Mukidza again converted with ease for a 28-17 lead.
Morocco would huff and puff, looking to win the game but the resolute Simbas defence held firm, only conceding a convert try but holding out for the result that takes them second on the log.
