A man of all seasons: Tuwei celebrates his career

Sports fraternity joined the newly elected World Athletics vice president Jack Tuwei returned home with a warm reception to celebrate his victory as the first Kenyan to win the coveted title.

Tuwei was elected the vice president during the Congress in Budapest, Hungary on August 17th where he garnered 104 points to clinch one of the four vice president positions.

Others are former Colombian sprinter, Ximena Restrepo, who got 154 votes, retired Spanish triple jumper Raul Chapado (119), and former Indian sprinter Adille Sumariwalla (115). 

Tuwei also serves as the Confederation of Africa Athletics Senior Vice President and President of the Eastern Africa Athletics Region.

The Athletics Kenya President, who has served the federation since 2016 was on Saturday received on a red carpet at his Kesses Home with pomp and colour, with ceremony attracting both sports and political class gracing the occasion with full of praise for the retired general.

Sports Cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba led the cabinet with his principal secretary Peter Tum, National Olympics Committee of Kenya Secretary General Francis Mutuku among other sportsmen and women.
