Kenya Prisons have named a 14-strong squad for the Women’s African Clubs Championship that will serve off on March 6 in Cairo.
Head coach David Lung’aho and his technical bench made the final selection on Wednesday evening following the successful completion of a three-week training at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
Five-time winners Prisons and national champions Kenya Pipeline – who have won it seven times – will represent the country at the annual showpiece that has attracted a record 22 teams.
Lung’aho said he was optimistic his charges will clinch the trophy as they seek to end a four-year continental drought at the Egyptian capital.
“It has been very hard for the girls for the last one month but they put in great effort so we believe in them. We ask Kenyans to continue praying for us and it will even be good if both Kenyan teams met in the finals,” Lung’aho told Citizen Digital.
The team will depart for Egypt on March 3, two days ahead of the poolings.
